Tunisian Crochet Pattern 100512A

by M. J. Joachim

Basic Tunisian Crochet rules apply to this pattern. You will be making a foundation chain, casting on loops and then casting them off your afghan hook. You will be working only on the front side of the fabric, without turning your piece.

Cast on:  Insert hook in desired space, yarn over, draw up loop

Cast off:  Yarn over, draw through loop or loops indicated

Foundation: Make an odd number of chain stitches

Step 1:  Cast on in the 2nd and 3rd chain from the hook.

Step 2:  Chain 2, cast on in each of the next 2 chain stitches

[Repeat Step 2 across row, omitting the last chain 2 in the final chain stitch.]

Step 3:  Cast off 1 loop (for edge); yarn over and cast off 2 loops at a time, until 1 loop remains on hook

Step 4:  Make knit stitch (insert hook through vertical and horizontal bar of indicated stitch), to cast next loop on your hook

Step 5:  Front post around chain 2 by inserting hook from front to back, and casting on next loop, chain 2

[Repeat Steps 4 and 5 across row, omitting the last chain 2 in the final edge stitch.]

Repeat Steps 3 – 5 for pattern.
