Note:  The center of this motif is tightly woven. It's okay to gently stretch stitches to help even out the shape as you work, especially if you are joining several of these motifs together. Once you've finished with all your motifs, use a clothing steamer and lightly steam your motifs to relax the stitches.

Step 1:  Chain 4, slip stitch in 1st chain to make a ring

Step 2:  Chain 2 (counts as 1st hdc), make 11 more half double crochet stitches in center of ring; join with slip stitch to top chain of 1st hdc in round

Step 3:  Chain 2 (counts as 1st hdc), make 2 more half double crochet in same place

Step 4:  Chain 4, make 3 hdc in 4th stitch from hook

[Repeat Step 4 one more time; chain 4, join with slip stitch to top chain of 1st hdc]

Step 5:  Slip stitch inot next (center) hdc; chain 3 (counts as 1st double crochet), make 4 more dc in same place

Step 6:  Chain 6, make 5 double crochet in center hdc of next group of 3 hdc stitches

[Repeat Step 6 once; chain 6, join with slip stitch to top chain of 1st dc]

Step 7:  Slip stitch in each of the next 2 dc’s; chain 4 (counts as 1st triple crochet); make 6 more triple crochets in same place

Step 8:  Chain 10, make 7 triple in 3rd double crochet of next group of 5 dc

[Repeat Step 8 once; chain 10 and join with slip stitch to top chain of 1st triple]

Step 9:  Chain 1, single crochet in same place; make 1 single crochet in each of the next 2 stitches; make {1 sc, chain 3, 1 sc} in next stitch – center triple, make 1 sc in each of the next 3 triple

Step 10:  Make 10 single crochet in chain 10 space

Step 11:  Make 1 single crochet in each of the next 3 triple; make {1 sc, chain 3, 1 sc} in next stitch – center triple, make 1 sc in each of the next 3 triple

[Repeat Steps 10 & 11 once; make 10 sc in last chain 10 space; join with slip stitch to 1st sc in round]

Finish off.
